Zaire built a house out of what everyone else threw away.

It began with a rail of forgotten coats in a South Side resale shop. Zaire was seventeen, buying wool by the pound and re-cutting it on a borrowed machine — shortening a hem here, squaring a shoulder there, until the garment finally looked the way it should have looked in the first place.

Those alterations became commissions. The commissions became a waiting list. In 2019 he formalised the work under one name — Vintage Society — a house built on a single conviction: luxury is not a logo, it is a garment that still holds its line a decade later.

Today the atelier works with mills in Biella and tanneries in Tuscany, producing no more than two hundred units of any piece. Nothing is restocked. Nothing is discounted. Every silhouette is drawn by hand before it is drawn on screen.

The name is a promise to the people who taught him to look twice — that something made properly the first time never really goes out of season.
